Preparation for Gathering 4
Commentary

Individuals will share thoughts on the nature of being human as the sense of community continues to deepen through attentive listening.

Our culture, history, law, art, literature, and music are shaped by our Jewish and Christian roots. The topic of the christ sometimes puts people off, yet the sharing on this topic can be very moving and may begin to heal old wounds.

Exploring thoughts, feelings, and experiences of the christ is important to understanding one's religion and relationship with our culture. The fifth gathering is almost always a powerful one.

Preparation

Consider historical examples of the worst and best in human nature.

Consider your personal history, your own worst and best moments.

Consider the humans who have had the greatest impact on your life. Why was their impact so great? Has anyone been a model of living or a mentor for you? What is it that you have been drawn to in this person? Is there someone you would like to know? Why?

What moments of Yes have you known?

What does it mean to you to be human?

Does an image of human nature come to your mind? Can you draw it? Can you describe your understanding of human nature?

Your Private Dinner Party

Who are the people—living, dead, fictional—you would invite to sit around the table with you for a private dinner and conversation?

Why these people?
